While travelling around China we witnessed a very strange phenomenon. The practice of couples and sometimes even entire families wearing the same t-shirts, shirts, shorts and sometimes even entire outfits. I understand it is meant to be a sign of love, affection and closeness.

We nicknamed purveyors of this odd practice ‘doublers’ and took great pleasure seeing how many ‘doublers’ we could spot as we were travelling around.

I’m reliably informed that this practice still goes on today. Serena’s work colleague has just returned from China and mentioned that she was very confused about why couples were wearing the same clothes. So yes, it still continues.
