We stayed in this fantastic hotel in the city district of Kanda in Tokyo.

The room was very small but included absolutely everything you could possibly need.

Hotel ICI Kanda interior and room

Cool reception

PoolTable

Once breakfast is over this area becomes a bit of a games room or chill-out area where you can sit and watch the world go by or charge your phone.

Elevator sign

Sign in the elevator.

Love these room directions, very snazzy

Hallway.

The whole room is designed to make the most of every inch of space.

No wardrobe as you might expect in such a small room.

View from our room at night.

Breakfast

Hotel ICI runs a rather unusual points system for the purchase of breakfast and snacks.

You buy points and receive a card that gets stamped each time you redeem points for breakfast items. I can understand the reasons behind such a system but to be honest we found it a little annoying to have to keep thinking about how many points an item was and then we had to get someone to stamp our card.

Personally, I would rather pay a fixed fee and be able to choose what I want from the buffet. Maybe these guys are ahead of the curve but I’ve stopped in over 500 hotels all over the world and have never come across this type of system.

A large selection of breakfast items was available.

You can help yourself to tea, coffee and water at any time

Plenty of snacks are available.

Goodies galore.

A cold but rather tasty hot dog was one of the breakfast items on offer.

Eastern and Western tastes were both catered for.

Mmmmm miso tasty.

Laundry area

When travelling for long periods of time it’s always a boon to find out your hotel has a laundry room.

Fairly straightforward instructions.

Ice Ice Baby

Conclusion

The Hotel ICI in Kanda is a great place to stay.

As you can see from the video the room is very small but what else do you need?

Breakfast was great but we found the points system to be a bit odd and unnecessary.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and it’s in a great location as its a short walk to the trains and underground.

Plenty of shops and restaurants are nearby.

I can highly recommend staying here if you were planning a trip to Tokyo and wish to stay in Kanda.
