Bird

We flew into the fantastic city of Iquitos and spent a few nights there.

The main reason for visiting Iquitos was so we could explore the Northern Amazon Basin.

Nothing better than just wandering around the world without a care in the world. I love seeing how other people live on a day to day basis.

Heading down the Amazon to the animal sanctuary.

Animal sanctuary

I don’t visit zoos or animal sanctuaries whilst travelling unless I know the animals are well looked after.

This place deep in the jungle had a very good reputation so I was happy to go there. I think Serena just wanted to chill out in our hotel on this day.

I went on a very quiet day, in fact, I think there were only a couple of other visitors there so they allowed me in to some of the enclosures to get a closure look at some of the animals.

I couldn’t resist the offer of holding this magnificent creature. Its weight was immense and you could really feel the power of this snake so I didn’t hold it for too long.

JV Annaconda

Here’s me struggling to pick up a very heavy Anaconda. I couldn’t stand up straight it was so heavy.

Manatee

Manatees have incredibly soft skin which I didn’t expect. I could have stroked this little fella all day.

Manatee_Feed

Get that down yer neck son.
