LA-featured

I’ve been lucky enough to have visited LA a number of times now. Some of my best memories of travelling have been made in LA. Not all of them can be shared with the general public though ;-). I’ve been there in my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s and never tire of visiting La La Land.

The main reason we came here from Las Vegas on the Greyhound Bus was to catch a direct flight to Japan.

On this occasion, we stayed in Santa Monica at the Santa Monica Motel.
We really struggled to find a place to stay in the heart of LA that wasn’t really expensive so we decided to stay a little way out in one of my favourite destinations in California; Santa Monica. I love how laid back and bohemian Santa Monica is. It’s also right next to the sea which is a major bonus and it’s only about 30 minutes away from Sunset Strip in a taxi or you can get a bus there if you prefer.

We only had a couple of days in LA so we decided to have a look around Beverly Hills and do the ‘Homes of the stars’ tour; neither of which we had done before.

Yes, I know I spelt ‘Beverly wrong’ on the video title. I am a wally.

Serena loves watching ‘Housewives of Beverly Hills’ so she wanted to visit a few of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants. We spent a few hours wandering around Beverly Hills looking for them and once we had seen all the ones within walking distance we got an Uber to Sunset Strip to see if we could get ourselves on the next ‘Homes of the Stars’ tour.

As luck would have it a tour was about to leave so we bought a couple of tickets and joined in.

We used ‘Ultimate Hollywood Tours’ which is the #1 Tour on Trip Advisor. The driver was very entertaining and regaled us with many stories about the film stars as we rolled around the Hollywood Hills.

At the end of the tour we were dropped off on Sunset Strip and went in the search for food. While we were on the hunt we noticed there was a bit of commotion. Apparently ‘Cardi B’ was walking down the strip with her bodyguard. She was being pursued by a couple of photographers but I did hear a few people say it was a prank because she was wearing a hoodie which obscured her face so I don’t know if it was her or not. To be honest, I couldn’t have cared less 🙂

We actually ended up in a Burger King just off the strip and I’m pretty sure that one of the Black Eyed Peas (‘Taboo’ to be exact – I had to look him up on Google) used the drive-thru while we were there. He had a beautiful red Ferrari whoever it was and was very skilled at navigating through the narrow drive-thru. I’m not sure i’d do that in such an expensive car!

Just another day in LA I guess.

And that was it, we had to get up early the next day to get our flight to the next country on our trip, somewhere i’ve wanted to visit for a very long time – Japan.
