We flew from LAX to Narita International Airport with Japan Airlines.

As you would expect the flight was great and everything ran efficiently and on time.

I was pretty excited to visit Japan as it’s been a country I’ve wanted to visit for a long time.

We landed at Narita International Airport (used the futuristic toilets with heated seats), went through immigration, received a rather nice stamp in our passports, collected our bags and made our way to the train station so we could catch our train to the city district of Kanda which is where we based ourselves for the first couple of days until we acclimatised ourselves.

The train journey was very pleasant and gave us our first glimpse of the outskirts of Tokyo. We could only get so far on this train and had to do the last part of the journey on the Tokyo Metro which isn’t that difficult to get around on once you get used to it.

I love this picture, it totally sums up Japanese society for me.

Serena had already researched the route and the tickets we needed so it didn’t take us too long to get to our destination; the Comfort Inn Hotel in Kanda. It was the end of a very long day of travelling.

We woke up in LA and went to bed in Japan excited about all the great things we were about to do in this fantastic country.
