New York City

I visited New York City with a couple of mates back in 2004.

We stayed at Hotel Pennslyvania opposite Madison Square garden for a few days before we jetted off to Los Angeles to catch up with some friends.

New York is such a cool city and I loved wandering around visiting the sites such as:

  • The Empire State Building
  • Central Park
  • Brooklyn Bridge
  • 9/11 Ground Zero

There is always something significant and exciting going on in New York. While we were there ‘The Strokes’ played in Central Park, we couldn’t get tickets but obviously, you could hear the gig clearly.

Also, an infamous murder took place of famous jeweler; Eduard Nektalov on Sixth Avenue and 47th Street. I had walked past the very spot where it took place about five minutes before. I walked into a shop to buy some cigarettes (back in the days when I used to smoke the occasional fag) and all hell broke loose. There were police cars, fire engines, ambulances, unmarked cars, and all sorts flying down the road. Everyone was going crazy because they thought there had been another terrorist attack (this was only a couple of years after 9/11). I didn’t stick around to find out what had happened and headed back to the hotel. I later found out on the news that a murder had taken place. My wife worked as a Nanny just outside of New York many years ago and we have yet to go back there together.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to get there soon.
