In early 2019, the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas marked the Chinese New Year with one of its most striking seasonal displays to date, a vibrant celebration of the Year of the Pig.
As part of the hotel’s regular transformation of its Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, this particular installation combined traditional Chinese symbolism with the Bellagio’s signature attention to detail and artistry.

Stepping inside the conservatory, visitors were immediately surrounded by a spectacle of colour and form. Towering red and gold lanterns hung overhead, while intricate floral arrangements, made up of tens of thousands of fresh blooms, filled the space with texture and life. At the centre of the display stood a large pig, symbolising wealth, good fortune, and prosperity, surrounded by ornate decorations reflecting themes of family, happiness, and renewal.

The Bellagio’s design team is known for its ability to merge artistry with horticulture, and this display was no exception. Water features, bridges, and sculptural elements were woven seamlessly into the garden setting, creating a sense of calm and balance that contrasted nicely with the energy of the casino floor just beyond. Subtle details, such as koi fish motifs, traditional Chinese calligraphy, and small pagoda-style structures, gave the exhibit an authentic and thoughtful touch.

Like all of the Bellagio’s seasonal showcases, the Year of the Pig display ran for several weeks before being replaced with the next theme. During its run, it became one of the most photographed spots in Las Vegas, drawing both hotel guests and passersby keen to experience a little artistry amid the bright lights of the Strip.
