India is one of my favourite countries in the world, and Varkala is certainly one of my favourite spots to visit there. I’ve been lucky enough to return three times, and each visit brings something new to discover.
One of the things I love most when travelling is hiring a scooter and setting off to explore, letting curiosity guide the way. Riding through Varkala is an experience in itself, the streets are alive with colour, vibrance, and the organised chaos that makes India so captivating. For a photographer or videographer, it’s a dream, with endless opportunities to capture everyday life, stunning landscapes, and fleeting moments of beauty.
I’ve always had incredible experiences in India, and this trip was no exception. This round-trip adventure was filmed on my GoPro, starting and ending at the lovely Samsara, a serene spot right on the coast of Varkala. The video was shot back in May 2019, and Varkala marked the final destination of a 3.5-month journey around the world.
Scootering through the town, along the cliffs and coastal roads, offered the perfect mix of adventure, discovery, and relaxation. From quiet side streets to bustling marketplaces, every turn revealed something unexpected, making it a memorable way to experience the energy and charm of this remarkable part of India.
